The result

After filming all of the footage, we decided to take a look at what we had filmed. Due to the fact it went dark early, we had no torches, and that we were filming underneath alot of tree's, the quality of the footage was very poor, grainy, and didn't look professional. Everything else apart from that went smoothly and came out fine, but in the end, we decided we would re-film, to try and get a better result.


To make sure it will go right the second time, we must make sure to
1) Bring torches to attach to the camera in case it went dark.
2) Film at an earlier time (4 instead of 5)
3) Film in a better, less shadowed location.
and
4) Make sure the camera settings were on 'Easy'.

• The actress playing the leading lady (The woman dragging the body) is played by Amber Phillips.
• And the actor playing the leading man (The man who has been 'murdered') is played by Darren Greggson.

Prop list and location

Props needed:
A shovel is needed as that is the main object focused on in this scene, so its the main prop.
We will need access to a car as thats the key element that opens the scene.
We will need torches if we decide to film it late at night or in the evening so it isn't too unlit.
Gloves are needed, show the girls professionalism and confidence in her actions.
A ladder is needed but not for an actual scene prop but to help take shots from high above (unless we decide to climb a tree or something).


Location:
Probably the woods at Witton park as it is easily accessed and close to both of our homes. Or some form of car-accessible woodland that they probably wouldn't mid us digging a fake grave in.
We would also have to be there at night so i think its a reasonably...'safe' place.




Costume plans:


The main costume need is to make the girl look professional, she'll probably need to have her hair tied back, no make up, the gloves are very important too.


The 'thing' that hits her on the head and knocks her into the ditch will need to be... shrouded so to say, so probably put some disguise on it.


The 'dead' boy would need to have a beaten look to him, so probably a few cuts and bruises and something to look like he has been killed to have given the girl that impression in the first place. He'd also need to look cold and pale, to give off more of the dead vibe.

Girls, some good work here. Please ensure the planning is complete for next week so you can go out to film. The storyboard is a crucial part of the planning process, so now you have a clear idea of your sequence you neeed to complete this. I mneed to see the storyboard before you go out to film. first of all, the initial shot would be a black-out from the inside of a car boot, it would be a point of view shot as in someone was looking from . We hear sounds and the image would be of the girl character taking out a shovel, gloves and walking past. The boot would then close, going back to the darkness.

the next shot would be of the girl coming from around the car and opening the boot, she will look confident in her actions, re-opening her boot, whilst putting gloves on. we see her grabbing a bag, POV shot from the boot.
There will be a hand held camera shot from coming around from the tree, it will be to give the impression she isn't alone and that someone else is watching this occur.

Next we see her dragging a long thing through a wood/forest. There will be several shots of this, e.g. close up of a hand, close up of her hands, Long viewed shot of the dragged body.

The girl then starts to dig the hole. There will be a tracking shot of the shovel going down into the ground.
Close ups of the guy start here, his hand will twitch, then you see more of the girl digging, then his eye will twitch, more girl close ups.
There will be a point of view shot from inside the 'grave' dug for the boy, looking at her face. This then follows by her being hit on the head by something and falling. The mystery of this is that we don't see who did it.
There will then be a view from up a tree, or above the scene showing that the boy has vanished,
but the dragged trail that was there from the first time he was pulled to the scene would be pointing in another direction, as if he was dragged again.

Equipment to be used.

Most importantly we will be using a digital camcorder, cassette for recording and a tripod for still camera shots.


The editing of the film will be done on imovie, and our two minute clip will have edited audio and clips; effects may also be used.


We will also need actor(s) to play in our clip.


We wont be using a microphone, due to the lack of, so all the dialogue will be needed to be picked up from the camera. This means that we will need to be careful of the sound interference, unless we can get ahold of one.


We will be using SFX makeup too, like skin wax and spirit gum and fake blood, to give the scary effect of injuries etc and its easily acquired. 


As we will be filming at night or in the evening, we will need to use some form of lighting (led torches?) and reflectors to make the light look less harsh on faces,
. It will have to be torches as it will need to be a portable light source as we will be filming in the woods/forest etc.

GRASS.

Gender: Both male and females but it probably would lean more towards males as an audience.

Race: Its probably aimed towards a british audience.

Though the problem with this type of profiling is that this is a stereotype that is easily broken, as anyone can like a horror film, dependent on the profiling of the audience or not.

Saw VI Analysis.

Saw VI (rated 18)

Within the first 2 minutes of Saw VI, we are greeted with very scary and eerie music, mixed with the credits, and sound effects of chains and chain saws (which ties in with the name) and very dark, low lighting. This already, only a few seconds into the movie, gives us the definite impression of what kind of film it is. The films institution, 'Twisted Pictures', known for its scary, and gory films, also adds the horror. After the credits, the scene is then set, using close ups of various parts of the room. The characters are then introduced to us (without the use of their names), with 360 shots and close ups of their horror-stricken faces, and to also show the room they are in. The 'bad guy' is then introduced at the end of the 2 minutes, with the now, very famous line, 'I wanna play a game'. 
The film Saw VI, had a very high budget, because of its amazing special effects. Which would probably be quite hard for us, while making our film. But, if we did go along with the idea of our film involving gore, we would try and make it look as realistic as possible.


The Saw franchise, is one of the most popular, and longest Horror franchise to be made yet. We chose this as one of our inspirations for many reasons. Such as:

• The way it merges both horror and gore, with a good plot and story line that makes you think, and keeps you asking questions.
• Dark lighting (with blue/green tint) is used, as well as very eerie, mood-setting music.
• Each scene of the movie, including the opening scene, makes you want to watch more.
• And a various camera shots are used, to not only set the scene, but to create tension.

For our 2 minute Horror intro, as we wish to involve fake gore, fake blood, and a chase scene set in the woods, we will probably be rating our film an 18.

Two main films we have mentioned throughout as a base of our ideas are Saw and Silent hill. 




Silent Hill. 

Within the first two minutes, the scenes are set. We are first introduced into Silent hill after 2:00 and we are introduced to the family's home. We discover their child is missing, due to the clues given initially of the screaming parent frantically rushing about and holding a bear, belonging to the child. 
The main character is a woman, and this goes against the stereotype of a horror film because women are those who are usually needed to be protected, not the ones running out into a dangerous place looking for a lost person. The mother-main character discovers the child after running a short while and she is about to jump off a cliff. As she is about to do this, we get an over head shot which is low angle, showing a camera plunging itself into silent hill and into the 'evil' version of the sleepwalking girl. This emphasizes the horror that silent hill is, it makes things look insignificant and totally helpless. 


The film uses high budget special effects, so they wouldn't be usable in our film, however we want it to be as.. visually scary as some parts are later on in the film. E.g the bubble-headed nurses have a very scary appearence.
